Sit Test Procedure: Test files must already have been uploaded to the Teacher/Class test bank using the ‘Upload Test File(s) from External Medium to Teacher/Class Test Bank’ item of the Upload menu. Use the Sit Test Preparation procedure listed below to upload the required test file from the appropriate Teacher/Class Test Bank to the student folders. This will place a copy of the test file in each student folder. Then follow the Sit Test Student Instructions below to direct students to sit the test.

Sit Test Preparation (This can be done in advance of Sit Test time):

  1. Click on ‘Upload’ in main menu.
  2. Click on ‘Upload Test File from Test Bank to Student Folders for Student Group to Sit Test’.
  3. Click on the arrow and select teacher.
  4. Click on the arrow and select class.
  5. Click on the arrow and select test.

STACS will upload the selected test to the student folders for all students in the selected Teacher/Class combination. You are now ready to invite students to sit the test.

Sit Test Student Instructions: The teacher should upload the appropriate Sit Test Application (STACSServerSitTest )in advance on a one off basis to all student desktops as follows:

Method 1: Copy the Sit Test Application to one or more distribution media. Distribute these to students and advise them to copy this application to their desktops.

Method 2: If the teacher has the student usernames and passwords, the teacher can copy the Sit Test Application to the student desktops without their knowledge.

Method 3: In some environments, it may be possible for the network administrator to use a batch file to perform the required task.

Sitting A Test: To sit a test, direct the students to double click on the Sit Test application and follow the instructions. They will be directed to navigate through teacher, class and student and to sit the test.

For each question, the student selects the letter that they think corresponds to the correct answer and clicks Accept. This is repeated for the other questions. If a student does not select an answer within 30 seconds, the question times out and the next question is presented. The student is advised 10 seconds prior to this happening. When a question times out, it is taken as an incorrect answer.

When Accept is clicked for the final answer, the score will be shown and recorded. The students are invited to Click on OK to exit the application.
